25 ideas for stocking stuffers and a homemade gift that is sure to please
It's that time of year again where people are scrambling to find the perfect gift for their friends and family. Everyone who has crossed your mind, you've probably considered what they might want or need. But have you taken a look in their stocking?
Just because it's not Christmas morning doesn't mean there aren't still presents waiting to be opened! Sure, some will say 'it's just a stocking,' but these tiny gifts can make any day bright. There are plenty of options out there when it comes to buying stocking stuffers: from cute and cuddly plushies to delicious treats, we've got something for everyone on your list (even if they're on someone else's). All you have to do is decide how much money you want to spend.
Why stockings are important
Stocking stuffers are a great way to give everyone a little something, from the youngest family members to the oldest. I think that this tradition is important because it helps remind us to be grateful for everything we have, and for those who work hard to help make our lives a little easier.
Stocking stuffers should be fun and inexpensive. It's a time to feel generous, not a time to go overboard on spending! Keep this in mind and you'll be able to buy the perfect gifts for everyone on your list.
Here are some tips for filling up the stocking with goodies:
- Use colourful tissue paper and ribbons or bows to add some festive cheer.
- Do some research online to find out what people actually want instead of buying them socks and underwear (unless they specifically ask for it, of course).
- Think about the person's personality and what they like. Do they love puzzles and games? Get them a gift card to their favourite store or restaurant. Are they crafty? Try some new crafting supplies!
- Be sure to get everything wrapped up and ready to go before December 25th so that all you have to do is hang the stocking up and wait for the big reveal!
- Fill the stocking up all the way with goodies, so the person will have to push down on it to reach inside.
- Fill the bottom of the stocking with some tissue paper then top it off with a gift or two.
- Come up with a theme and fill the stocking appropriately! Is your friend a lover of everything nineties? How about some scrunchies and hair ties, maybe even a cassette tape or two!
- Wrap up small items in holiday wrapping paper or tinsel before putting them into your stocking.
- Buy an extra stocking to stuff full of goodies to hand out as Christmas gifts!

How to make your own homemade gift that is sure to please
Hot Chocolate mix packets
Hot Chocolate is one of those classic winter drinks that just about everyone enjoys. It's warm, comforting, and can be customized with all sorts of different flavours. This year, instead of just buying a box of hot chocolate mix, why not try making your own? It's really easy to do and you can personalize the packets with all sorts of different spices and flavours.
To make your own hot cocoa mix packets, you will need:
- Package of hot chocolate mix or spices for hot chocolate
- *Optional: mini marshmallows, mini chocolate chips, crushed candy cane
- Mugs for packaging*Optional: Ribbon, scrapbook paper
Step 1: Mix together your hot chocolate mix according to the directions on the box.
*Tip: Add spices like cinnamon or chilli powder to give it some flavour! (Be careful not to add too much though, as these flavours are strong)
Step 2: Spoon your mix into the desired amount of individual hot chocolate packets.
*Tip: You can mix up multiple batches in advance, so you'll have plenty on hand to last you through the winter!
Step 3: Add a cute tag and ribbon for decoration if desired. *Optional: Wrap the paper around the mug, and secure it with tape.
Step 4: Give your gift!
I love hot chocolate and I think I can speak for everyone when I say that adding marshmallows is the BEST part of the experience. You'll be sure to please anyone on your holiday list by giving them this personal gift they can enjoy! This also makes a great gift for teachers, co-workers, or friends. Have fun with it and be creative with your flavours!
If you are giving the mix as a gift, package it in a mug for an extra special touch!
