Spring is in the air! In our fashion, minds and lifestyle

Creativity blooms in spring. Energy blossoms and so do new trends. Full of the joys of spring, we’ve invited Eva Velt and Lena Marie, content creators/bloggers on Fashion Potluck, to share their musings on this season’s style, lifestyle and the magic of spring-cleaning, for both your physical space and your headspace. Namaste. Let us begin:

    The future’s bright. Really bright

Spring is bursting with fresh color. That was brazenly apparent at the Spring/Summer Fashion Week’s this year. Runways were awash with bright blocks of fuchsia, yellow, red, blue, orange, purple. Neon rainbows. Block color. Karl Lagerfeld quite literally filled the room with textures and color at his January show, using a mirrored runway.

Fashion blogger Eva Velt (evaoaks) suggests to “be daring with colors. You don’t have to go crazy, but just a pop will make you stand out.” We couldn’t agree more, it’s way easier to be playful with style as the weather warms.

“Create your own style. Compared to trends your own style will last. I buy clothes because I like them, not because they will make me likable.” — Eva

    Flower Power!

Flowers are springing up everywhere, from fields and gardens, to catwalks and high-street shops. Floral’s are blooming, garden parties are in full swing and we’re feeling the peace and love from the small but mighty blossoms, which are bang on trend for this spring and they boost your mood!

“Common sense tells us that flowers make us happy,” Dr. Haviland-Jonesstated. “Now, science shows that not only do flowers make us happier, they have strong positive effects on our emotional well being.”

In that case, we should fill our homes and offices with flower arrangements, dress head-to-toe in floral’s and enjoy the calming happy effect of flowers this spring.

    Super statement stripes

Simply put, stripes are bold, elegant and timelessly stylish. Runway’s were plastered with streamlined graphic stripes in bold colors at the Spring/Summer 2017 Fashion Weeks earlier this year.

“It doesn’t matter if you have a small budget for clothing, I believe this is where creativity enters the stage”, Eva says. Mix and match different textures and patterns of stripes; pair vintage with ultra minimalist modern. And why not? It is the season for new things and growth. “And finally,” adds Eva, “always peek in the men’s section! I’ve found some pretty cool sweaters”.

Spring clean! body, mind and soul

We change our clothes and forge new styles to make us feel good. But happiness isn’t skin deep. To get to the heart of happiness and wellbeing, it’s more than fashion. It is lifestyle. It is being. To help us be and find clarity and balance, now is the perfect season to spring clean.

21-year old blogger Lena Marie shares the importance of spring-cleaning your mind, your body and your soul. “Sometimes our headspace just needs time to chill, so give it [space] to do so”. A relaxed mind can be happy and creative — just what we want this spring.

Lena recommends that to clear your head, “clean up your digital space- emails, notifications, and photos,” allow your brain some space, mediate, do coloring in or practise yoga.

To rebalance your body, Lena suggests sorting through closet, clearing our your refrigerator and pantry and scheduling workouts in advance.

The trick, Eva adds, is not to be materialistic and to find a healthy work/life balance. “I love my blog and social media” says Eva, “but it doesn’t represent my true life.”

Digital is augmented, but real life is full of color, style and life! Keeping things separate and in perspective lets us really see the bright colors, explore style, remain in balance and find happiness.

experiment with spring trends, dare to be bold and let yourself bloom!
