6 Beneficial Reasons to Take a Foot Bath
Our feet are a complicated structure that consists of numerous bones, ligaments, and muscles. All of them create necessary support for our bodies. However, it is important to understand that such a structure requires proper attention and care. A foot bath is an excellent way to reduce certain foot issues and relax muscles at the same time. In this article, we gathered six beneficial reasons to take a foot bath.
1. Reduces perspiration
Excessive sweating causes discomfort. However, it can also lead to fungi that are actively multiplying in a humid environment. In order to reduce perspiration, use warm baths with components that have deodorizing properties.
For example, a warm bath with oak bark helps reduce perspiration and prevent odors. You can buy dried oak bark at a pharmacy. Take for tablespoons of oak bark, add 16 cups of water and boil for five minutes. Then leave the decoction to insist for 30 minutes. Pour the decoction into the bath and soak your feet for 10-15 minutes. To achieve a visible effect, it is necessary to conduct at least 10 procedures.
2. Moisturizes skin
If you want to avoid dry skin and cracks on your feet, try to moisturize them daily and use baths with useful components like oils and herbs. In order to enhance the benefits, you can prepare the skin. Rub it with a brush or pumice so that the beneficial components can penetrate deeper.
Take one tablespoon of sea salt, 10 drops of lavender or ylang-ylang essential oil, and eight cups of warm water. Before combining water with the active ingredients, mix the oil with salt to ease the dissolution. Use the bath for 10-15 minutes.
3. Prevents corns and calluses
The roughened areas can cause discomfort and spoil the appearance of the feet. You can get rid of corns and calluses with the help of softening baths and nourishing creams. To soften rough skin, you can use a warm foot bath with baking soda.
Baking soda has an anti-inflammatory effect and also helps to effectively soften rough skin. Take three tablespoons of baking soda, one tablespoon of liquid soap, and eight cups of warm water. Mix the ingredients and soak your feet for 15-20 minutes. After the bath, rub the coarsened areas with pumice or brush, pat dry with a towel, and coat with cream.
4. Relieves fatigue
After a hard day, a foot bath will help improve blood circulation. Changing temperatures speed up blood circulation and help eliminate feelings of fatigue. Prepare two bowls, one with hot water, the other with cold. Put your feet in the hot bath for 15-20 seconds, then put them into the cold bath. Repeat the manipulation 15-20 times. Be sure to finish the cold bath.
5. Reduces swelling
Long walks, uncomfortable shoes, and excessive salt intake can cause foot swelling. Foot baths can help eliminate or reduce swelling. However, if you have noticed constant swelling, it is better to visit a foot doctor in order to prevent certain medical conditions.
Even if excessive salt intake is the cause of the swelling, you can use a salt bath to relieve swelling. Sea salt removes excess moisture from the body, and its systematic use will help get rid of swelling. A classic salt bath consists of warm water and sea salt. Take four tablespoons of sea salt and add six cups of warm water. Soak your feet in the bath for 10 minutes.
6. Eliminates fungi
Fungi treatment should be carried out with the help of special creams, ointments and foot baths. The main thing in treatment is daily care as well as the use of highly targeted products and components. Fungi can't survive in an acidic environment, so you can use vinegar baths for fungi treatment. Take half a cup of vinegar and mix it with eight cups of water. Put your feet in the bath and soak for 20-25 minutes.
