9 Things in Your Wardrobe That May Be Cause Your Back Pain
Sometimes reasons for back pain are unclear. They are obvious after a weekend basketball game or hours spent hunched over your computer. But, when your neck and backache and you have no idea why it is most frustrating of all. If you have unexplained back pain clothes are an unexpected factor to consider.
1. High heels and flats
High heels change the body’s stance. Walking in them you lose heel strike. This creates an incline in the pelvis, stresses the buttocks, and lower back with every step. The spine becomes hyper-arched causing sciatica over time. Try to avoid stilettos that cause instability and pressure.
Ballet flats and flip flops are not much better. They don’t have a supporting arch. As a result, you don't get the shock absorption and may end up damaging your feet.
2. Heavy necklaces
Heavy jewelry often leads to poor posture. Try to eliminate the time you spend wearing large necklaces. To maintain good posture keep your ears above your shoulder and shoulders pulled back when you have them on.
3. Pencil skirts
Pencil skirts tighten knees together and prevent normal movements, straining the back. This will eventually lead to muscle or disc problems. Disc problems are quite painful spine disorder. Wearing pencil skirts can also change your normal walking gait and posture.
4. Shapewear
Most women tend to use Spanx and other to smooth out their curves under their clothes. Although they create a nice appearance, shapewear is bad for your body. They constrict the range of motions of the pelvic muscles. As a result, you put more stress on your back.
5. Heavy bags
Carrying bags that are too heavy can cause a crick in your back. Those pounds cause almost immediate pain that is completely preventable. To prevent back pain, make sure that the bag weight is less than 15% of your body weight.
6. Skinny jeans
Skinny denim is one more constricting trend. Not all skinny jeans are equally bad. If they don’t restrict movements of your knees, hips, and thighs then they will not do harm. Wearing skinny jeans that restrict movement will ultimately change the way the body moves while walking. These changes will place an additional load on your joints, resulting from decreased shock absorption.
7. Bags with one strap
Carrying a bag on one shoulder causes a weight imbalance on the spine. Over time it will result in uneven muscles and joints. If you are carrying ag on one shoulder you will hike your shoulder to subconsciously guard against the weight. This will cause unnatural counterbalance movement of the shoulder.
Moreover, this may worsen control over the movements of the arms and legs. The spine may even curve toward the shoulder.
8. Skimpy bra
Strap bras might look sexy, but they actually are not good for your back. Such skimpy bras provide poor support. Common bras spread the pressure across the surface of your shoulder. With a skinny bra strap, the pressure concentrates on one spot. This pulls down the shoulders and causes pain.
9. Halter top
Halter tops may cause your neck to pulls forward. Women with large breasts will especially put additional stress on their necks. If you have large breasts consider wearing a strapless bra for extra support. This will decrease the load on the neck.
