My Top 10 Favourite Things About Autumn
The season of change is upon us, and we can't help but smile at all the new adventures that await. It's that time of year again when it's finally getting cool enough to have hot chocolate and cosy blankets!!
The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and pumpkin spice everything is back on the shelves. There's so much to love about autumn, and I’ve rounded up my ten favourite things for you to enjoy this season. So grab a hot drink, snuggle up in a blanket, and read on for all the reasons why autumn is the best time of year!
1. Cosy nights in
Curling up on the sofa with a book or film is one of my favourite ways to spend time indoors during these colder months. But it's not just what you read that matters. It’s how comfortably warm things feel! I always make sure to have a cosy blanket and a mug of tea before settling in. And if I’m really feeling in the mood for a cosy afternoon, I might even light a scented candle or two.
There’s something about the combination of warmth, comfort, and relaxation that just makes me feel so happy and content. It’s the perfect way to escape the cold weather and enjoy some me-time. So if you’re looking for a way to stay cosy this autumn, curl up with a good book (or movie) and make yourself a cup of tea. You might just find that it’s the best way to beat the seasonal blues.
2. Cosy Sweaters Coming Out of Storage
There's nothing quite like cosying up in a soft, warm sweater when the weather starts to cool down. I love being able to break out my favourite sweaters and cardigans as soon as the leaves start to change colour. They always make me feel so cosy and comfortable like I can take on the world.
Wrapping myself up in a big, comfy sweater is one of my favourite things about fall. It's a time to relax and enjoy the simple things in life, and a good sweater is a perfect way to do that. So don't be surprised if you see me out and about in one of my favourite sweaters this fall - I'll be the one with the biggest smile on my face!
3. The Leaves Changing Colour
One of the best things about autumn is watching the leaves change colour. It's amazing to see how green leaves can turn into such beautiful shades of red, orange, and yellow. The way they dance across the sky in the wind is simply captivating.
Each year, I make it a point to spend some time outdoors admiring the autumn foliage. It's a great way to appreciate nature's beauty and also to get some fresh air. Even if you're not a big fan of cold weather, I think everyone can enjoy the beauty of changing leaves. So next time you're feeling down, take a walk outside and admire nature's splendour. I guarantee it will boost your mood!
4. Pumpkin Spice Everything
There's something about pumpkin spice that just screams autumn. Maybe it's the warmth of the spices, or the way it makes everything taste just a little bit sweeter. Whatever the reason, pumpkin spice has become one of the most popular flavours of the season.
You can find it in candles, cookies, cakes, and even ice cream. It's the perfect flavour to help get you into the autumn spirit! So go ahead and indulge in all things pumpkin spice. Your taste buds will thank you!
5. Pumpkin Spice Lattes Returning to Starbucks
There's nothing quite like a pumpkin spice latte on a crisp autumn day. The warm, rich flavour of the coffee paired with the spicy sweetness of the pumpkin is pure bliss. And just like that, autumn has arrived!
Pumpkin spice lattes have become something of a cultural phenomenon in recent years. Even if you're not a coffee drinker, chances are you still know what a pumpkin spice latte is. They're simply that popular! And it's not hard to see why. There's something about the combination of flavours that just screams autumn.
If you've never had a pumpkin spice latte, now is the time to try one! They'll be available at Starbucks So head on over and get your fix before they're gone!
6. Going, Apple Picking
One of my favourite things to do in the fall is going apple picking. There's something so magical about being surrounded by rows and rows of trees laden with ripe apples, just begging to be picked. I love the feeling of filling up my basket with fresh apples and then taking them home to bake pies or make applesauce. It's such a simple pleasure, but it always brings me so much joy.
why not try making my Easy Sticky Toffee Apple Pudding
If you've never been apple picking, I highly recommend it! It's the perfect way to enjoy the cooler weather and the amazing colours of autumn.
7. Decorating for Autumn
There's something about autumn that just makes me happy. Maybe it's the cool weather, the beautiful leaves, or the delicious food. Or maybe it's just because it's a time to start fresh, with new goals and resolutions for the coming year. Whatever the reason, I love autumn, and one of my favourite things about it is getting to decorate my home with all kinds of cute fall decorations!
From pumpkins and gourds to hay bales and corn stalks, there are so many fun ways to get your home ready for autumn. I even like to put a wreath on my door and some lights in my windows. Just looking at all of the colourful autumn decorations makes me feel happy and excited for the season ahead. So if you're looking for a way to get into the autumn spirit, why not try decorating your home with some cute fall decorations? You might just find that it puts a smile on your face too!
8. Pumpkin Picking
There's something special about pumpkin picking. Maybe it's the crisp autumn air or the promise of all the delicious pumpkin recipes to come. Whatever the reason, pumpkin picking is one of my favourite fall activities. And it's not just because pumpkins make great pies and lattes. Pumpkins are also pretty cheap, so why not go pumpkin picking or pick one up next time you're at the supermarket? Besides, carving pumpkins is only half the fun.
The real challenge is deciding what to do with all that delicious pumpkin flesh! So if you're looking for a fun fall activity that won't break the bank, go pumpkin picking! You might just be surprised at how much you enjoy it.
9. Halloween
There's just something about Halloween that gets everyone excited. Maybe it's the chance to dress up and be someone else for a night, or the opportunity to eat as much candy as you want without feeling guilty. Whatever the reason, Halloween is always a fun time of year.
For kids, Halloween is all about going out trick-or-treating and collecting as much candy as possible. They love getting dressed up in their costumes and exploring their neighbourhoods with their friends. And of course, they love getting free candy! For adults, Halloween is often a time to relax with a spooky movie marathon or to attend Halloween parties. It's also a great excuse to eat lots of candy!
Whether you're young or old, there's no denying that Halloween is a special time of year. So let's all enjoy some candy and make the most of this fun holiday!
10. The Smell of Wood Fires Dancing in the Air
There's nothing like waking up on a cold morning and stepping outside to take a deep breath of fresh air scented with wood fires burning in nearby fireplaces. It's such a comforting smell that always makes us feel right at home, no matter where we are.
Wood fires have a uniquely pleasant smell that instantly brings feelings of warmth and comfort. It's the kind of smell that makes you want to curl up by the fire with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate and it's not just the smell of the wood smoke itself, but also the memories and emotions that are associated with it. Whether it's the memories of cosy winter nights spent by the fireplace or sitting around a bonfire making s'mores, the scent of wood fires always brings happiness.
So the next time you step outside and catch a whiff of wood smoke in the air, take a moment to enjoy it and let all those cosy feelings wash over you.
