Summers in Ft Lauderdale

    United States
    Ft Lauderdale
    Florida

Are you a South Florida local looking for a Summer getaway without the hustle and bustle of Miami Beach? Or are you looking to travel to Florida and interested in checking out a great beach location? Then look no further than Fort Lauderdale! If you’re looking for ideas on what to pack for your beach trip, here’s my What to Pack for Beach day post!

    Florida Beach Getaways

South Florida is known for their pristine beaches and night life, but if you’re trying to avoid the massive crowds, then there are quite a few options for you!

I live fairly close to Miami Beach, so it’s a go to location when I want a beach day with my friends or family. I occasionally head to the Key Biscayne area to enjoy a bike ride or spend time at the dog beach. If I want more seclusion and relaxation, I head toward the Sunny Isles area to enjoy white sand beaches; where I can lounge in the sunshine. I can’t forget the beaches in Sarasota (I would love staying at Lido Beach Key Resort with my family on our annual summer vacations), Marco Island, and Sanibel (stayed at The Parrot Nest Cottages. So sweet and private! Just a quick bike ride from the beach) on the West Coast near the Gulf, and Daytona on the East Coast. Those locations are more of a drive for me; more planning required for those staycations.

Ft Lauderdale – The Atlantic Hotel & Spa

Last summer, I wanted to visit the Fort Lauderdale area, since they have so many dining and shopping options available. I opted to looking for a pet friendly hotel since we were bringing the pups along. I ended up finding a great hotel that allowed pets and was just a quick walk to the beach; fairly close to the heart of Ft. Lauderdale! The Atlantic Hotel and Spa.

We stayed in a large suite to host the whole family (six in total and two dogs). The master bedroom and bathroom were awe-inspiring. The balcony extended from the master bedroom onto the living room area and had views of the pool down below, and the beach right across. The hotel offered a dog relief area on the side of the hotel where we could take the dogs out every morning and evening. They even offer a pet welcome package on arrival!

We enjoyed the weekend by the sun, exploring the area and lounging by the pool before our weekend getaway came to an end. I visited this hotel once again this Summer, but enjoyed a smaller suite for two. We once again had ocean front views! The hotel staff took CDC guidelines seriously and took precautions during guest arrivals. It was definitely a much needed weekend getaway!
