LIFESTYLE

As I sip my morning coffee, I find myself reflecting on last year about all my failures and achievements – ready to move on to the next chapter with a clean slate.
Truth is, there are no rules to start afresh or to wait for the clock to go tick-tock. But somehow I got caught in life, neglecting self-care. I almost forgot it counts as being productive, if not a must. Time seems to be going faster since I’ve moved into my new apartment in Dubai. This explains my lack of content since August and the urge to publish a new post in early January.
Because there’s always something magical about New Year, I believe this post is right on time in a sense of renewal for the mind, body and soul.
Today, I’ll be sharing a 15 days of self-care ideas that I’m currently doing to rejuvenate and training myself to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Feel free to try it with me, but of course, you need to be committed!
15 Days Of Self-Care To Start The Year Right
Day 1 – Practice gratitude
Every morning, take the time to notice and reflect upon the things you are thankful for. Begin by writing down 3 things and read it again in the evening before bed.
Day 2 – Listen to a new TED Talk
This is a great way to broaden your perspective by learning from the experiences and struggles of what the speakers have to share. A talk can also act as a source of motivation for you whenever you feel low.
Day 3 – Have a movie night
Grab your snacks and allow yourself to binge-watch your favorite shows. It always gives us a sense of accomplishment to finish the whole series at one shot, isn’t it?
Day 4 – Spend 10 minutes outdoor
Sometimes, all it takes is a few minutes of fresh air to feel better. Getting outside for 10 minutes is easy to do and doesn’t take long to reap the benefits.
Day 5 – Declutter your wardrobe
After a boring year of pandemic and loungewear, now is the time to make space and to explore the new fashion trends of 2022. Let go of clothes you no longer need. New year, new beginnings…
Day 6 – Play games on your phone
Put your feet up and plug into another universe by playing some games on your phone. You never know, it might help you unwind in some way or another.
Day 7 – Take an afternoon nap
Afternoon naps are known to relieve exhaustion, boost creativity and can improve your mood. So, if you find yourself fighting off sleep in the middle of the day, take a nap without feeling guilty about it.
Day 8 – Chat with an old friend
We all have that one friend with whom we have endless things to talk about and cry from laughter, right?
Day 9 – Make a fancy cocktail
Fortunately, you don’t need to be a skilled mixologist to make yourself some fancy cocktails from the comfort of your home.
Day 10 – Start your morning with yoga
Let your lungs be happy first thing first in the morning by inhaling a big amount of oxygen. It does not matter if you are a beginner or a pro, as long as you can stretch your body and allow your mind to be present.
Day 11 – Buy yourself flowers
Because, why wait to receive flowers when you could get them for yourself?
Day 12 – Get your vitamin D from sunlight
It is crucial for fighting diseases and maintaining a strong immune system. And at noon, the sun is at its highest point which means you can spend less time to get your dose of vitamin D.
Day 13 – Put on fresh bed sheets
Shaved legs and fresh bed sheets are the best combination ever. They are enough to entice you into bed and bring comfort like nothing else after a long day.
Day 14 – Treat yourself to a home spa
Light a scented candle in the background and indulge in a bath – wash, exfoliate, cleanse, tone, moisturize, try sheet masks. We are talking glowing skin!
Day 15 – Do a social media detox
Take a break off the internet and try something creative like a new recipe, DIY projects or make a Spotify playlist of all your feel-good tunes.
What is your favorite self-care activity? I’d love to know in the comments below!
