LIFESTYLE

It’s that time of the year again, where we are given a brand new opportunity to start fresh and give some energy to the parts that need a little attention. However, with the calendar turning over, it can be overwhelming for content creators to start off on the right foot.
Many of us create a list of resolutions to make the following year as productive as we possibly can, and we might be worried if we don’t do something splendid, that could be a premonition of what’s to come. Hence, before anything else, you should remind yourself that — you aren’t born a content creator, you turn into a content creator.
To help you break that cycle of wanting to make a change and then not following through (btw I plead guilty), here are 5 must do things to kick start your new year in a healthy and successful way:
5 Must Do Things For Ambitious Content Creators To Kick Start The New Year And Achieve Success:
1. Write A Professional Bio
It can be quite tricky to write unique bios for your social media accounts, especially when you only have a few seconds to grab a person’s attention. Below are what you need to understand about bios:
- They are not just limited characters that sit at the very top of your profile. Bios make the first impression. It shows users who you are and what problems you solve.
- Bios help you to establish a connection with your followers right from the beginning.
- Bios work wonders when it comes to search results. The more precised your bio is, the more traffic you will attract.
- Last but not least, it can turn profile visitors into followers and followers into customers.
Is your bio concise, easy to read and informative? If not, here’s your sign to start with a good foundation this new year and go write that professional bio.
2. Update Your Media Kit/Portfolio
I want to start off by saying that it DOES NOT matter if your follower count is not massive, big or small, every content creator needs a media kit. Not arguable!
I believe an updated media kit/portfolio can help you stay organized and see what’s working for you. Make sure you are taking notes of all your stats from the channel you are focused on. Showcase how many subscribers, views and impressions you have because you clearly don’t want to miss out on big opportunities.
When was the last time you updated your media kit/portfolio? Are you including your monthly statistics to show how awesome you are?
3. Compile All Your Pitching Templates In One Place
Ever feel like you are running out of time or don’t know how to reach out to brands? This is why, it is practical to compile all your pitching templates in one place, be it on google docs or in a separate folder on your desktop.
Crafting successful pitches is no wonder an on-going process, but it becomes easier to land collaborations when your templates are pre-made with your personal touch. Pitches can fall flat all too often just because they aren’t suited for the specific brand.
Have you been sending lots of pitches lately and feeling disappointed with the results? Perhaps, it’s time to change your approach.
4. Commit Yourself To Learning New Skills
There’s no doubt that with a new year comes new possibilities. As a content creator, there’s always more to learn and that’s the only way to grow. I’m sharing some skills you may want to learn in your free time. By learning these skills, you will be able to differentiate between a content creator and a successful content creator —
- SEO
- Graphic design
- Networking
- Data analysis
- Editing
- Convert traffic into sales
Are you challenging yourself enough in your content creation process? If not, here’s your reminder to jump outside of your comfort zone and try new things this year.
5. Understand How Social Media Algorithms Work
No, you don’t have to be a tech savvy to study how a group of data behaves but, you should definitely familiarize yourself with the basics of algorithms.
This is one area which is commonly overlooked by content creators and then, they wondered “what am I doing wrong?”. I suggest you start learning how these social media algorithms work, which factors they prioritize for ranking so you can create content accordingly. They are always changing which is why you need to keep yourself up-to-date.
Are you sure you are posting content at the right time? Maybe, you should implement a new strategy this new year.
Bonus Tip
Have A Restful Day To Increase Your Productivity
You have heard it once, you are hearing it again — resting is productive. You don’t need to feel guilty for pausing every once in a while. I know it’s easy to get caught in cycles when you love what you do, but you can’t keep going forever, isn’t it?
Set aside time to look after yourself and practice some self care activities. A long bath, stretching, watching rom-coms, playing video games are some great ways to take a break and give yourself extra love.
You’ll be doing yourself a favor, I bet you!
