Lessons I Learned In 2020

Have you ever sat down and thought about the lessons you've learned in 2020 when Covid19 started? Well, I have and I finally took the time to sit down and jot them down.

I've thought about them often actually but never got a chance to actually sit and gather my thoughts until now. I know that it's completely overdue, but I guess some parts are hard to talk about because frankly, some are sad to think about.

Like the fact that losing a friendship that I've had for say over 7 years or so, is hard to talk about. I'm not going to go into specifics but just the fact that while in lock-down I never would have guessed that a friendship that I thought was so strong, would not survive eight months of not talking or seeing each other. I guess its true when they say, out of sight out of mind.

Now that we're into the current month, and into a new year; I'm glad to say we are slowly working back into good terms. I'm not one to bring in bad feelings from the previous year into a new year. I like to work with a clean and new slate and hope that a new year brings us both happiness. Still, in the back of my mind, I will never forget how hurt I really was and how I had to overcome those feelings on my own. Even though now we laugh here and there, and the sounds of our familiar laughter feels like home, but in my heart I'm not quite there yet. This was a tough lesson.

    Another lesson;

Our car dealership last year suffered such a devastating lost during the lock-down and the landlord was not compassionate about the rent and didn't give us a break on it, therefore we still had to continue paying it even though we were closed for awhile. Let me tell you, paying rent on a commercial property isn't cheap either.

Update on that to date; we are slowly trying to get back up on our feet. The word here is: slowly, but surely. Pray for your local businesses. I feel for all the local businesses out there. It's hell.

I also learned that this pandemic brought everyone closer together, in our world. I'm very much into Instagram and post after posts, I see people post pictures and videos of their families and sharing all the activities that fill their days while in lock-down mode. From their how-to-do this and that, to Tik Tok dances and sharing all their  hidden talents just totally amazes me.

So much entertaining things on Instagram to fill your day, you can get really addicted!

I also learned that being cooped up in the house with my family members has its pluses and minuses. Lol.

    The pluses

    • Watching lots and lots of Netflix together. (umm don't watch Bridgerton together!)
    • We play scrabble a lot
    • Having many meals together and also sharing the cooking
    • Hearing their voices
    • I can walk into their rooms and its not empty
    • The recycling bin is always empty
    • The garbage bin is always empty

    The Minuses

    • The lights are always left on
    • The Electricity bill is up
    • At 2pm someone wakes up & wants breakfast
    • Papa & I are constantly picking up empty cups
    • They always want to watch The Office
    • They always want to watch The Office
    • They always want to watch The Office

    These are not bad lessons.

The last and not the least lessons I learned while going through my photos on my cell, are beautiful memories of many past events. Events that I and I'm sure all of us are dying to get back to.

Vacationing at our favourite spots, going to our favourite restaurants, seeing our favourite people and visiting our favourite places.

I hope in time we get there. Let's cross our fingers.

In the meanwhile, I will learn from my lessons, and carry on.

    Thank you for reading!

Definitely, one of my favorites parts of 2020 was getting to catch up on all my shows and favorite YouTubers haha! Still didn't make time to watch The Office. Great post!
