My Best Kept Secrets for Content Creation in 2020 | NotAGirlyGal

    Hello my lovelies,

Are you feeling inspired to create content? Do you feel like documenting your journey or teaching others something new? Either you already started your social presence or blog, or you're thinking about starting any of these, here are my best kept secrets for Content Creation in 2020.

    It's about being unique

It's 2019 (almost 2020) and we have SO many accounts to follow and interact with. Don't feel like there's no place for your presence online, but do consider that you need to be unique. Come up with your content objectives, pillars and your main reason why you want to be online. Have confidence in yourself. A lot of people don't end up posting their pictures because they over critique themselves.

    Rely on professional equipment

I tried it myself. Professional cameras really do make a difference when it comes to content creation. All big brands are doing it and if you want to work with them and get your presence noticed, swap your iPhone for a DSLR or something similar. I know a lot of people do prefer their phones, but my past experience really tells me that professional cameras are worth the investment.

    Gather content in batches

Get content in one batch perhaps once or twice a month. If you're shooting outfits, recording videos or podcasts, try to do at least 3 series of these at once. It might take you 4-6 hours depending on the content type, but trust me, it will definitely pay off in the long run. You'll always have enough content to last you the next three or four weeks. Think about your content and plan accordingly. It usually takes me about 30 minutes to brainstorm ideas for my blog which is my main type of content and then my micro content (social channels that support it) will just follow up from the content I gather for my blog. I also do some impromptu pictures on weekends of outfits or flat lays, but my content is rarely reactive.

Make the most out of the places you visit

Planning a city break, dessert safari or a mountain trip? Great! Next step, think about content creation opportunities. Content doesn't 'just happen' although it might just look like it on Instagram. Plan the type of content you'd like to gather, outfits, poses and accessories in advance. I always like to do my research on Instagram or just online before I go on a trip. Especially if you're working, it might be hard to gather content, so why not use your free time for something productive too?

    Always use natural light

This is honestly a no brainer, but please always use natural light when shooting. I used to try my best to shoot during evenings and be kind of happy with them. But then, I'd take the same picture during day light and it was a complete game changer.

    Don't be extremely picky

Don't be too picky when it comes to producing content. You'll get better with time, you just need to keep on producing, editing, writing copy and constantly growing your skills.

I hope you enjoyed this article and that you'd be happy to start trying some of these :) Now, what are your goals for content in 2020?
