The Ultimate Skincare Regime For 20's
I always face the question: “How could you keep your skin so youthful and flawless at your 50’s?” In a series of posts, I’m trying to give you the answer, starting from my skincare regime at 20’s. First of all, I should say that I am not a skincare expert. What I am going to tell you is based on my personal experience only. Well, if you want to get youthful skin at your 40’s or 50’s, start from your teens.
The key rule of teen age skincare is preventing the aging of your skin. Pollution, sun damage and modern hectic lifestyle are the three accelerating factors of aging. If you don’t take care of your skin regularly and religiously, you will age soon, may be at your 30’s. Let’s talk about what skincare regime you should follow. Not only this, I’m gonna tell you some easy yet effective lifestyle changes you should start.
Skincare Regime of 20’s:
1.Know your skin first.
The key to skin elasticity is knowing your skin and treating accordingly. Hence, know what kinda skin you have.. is it oily or combination or dry? Is your skin acne-prone? Using products that target to those issues will keep your skin healthy.
2.Follow a basic skincare regime regularly.
Must follow a strict CTM, that’s cleansing, toning and moisturizing. No matter what, you have to wash off the day’s pollutants, dirt, oil and obviously makeup. Then use a toner. Before buying a toner, keep in mind that it might be alcohol free. A toner restores the pH balance, keeps it calm and refreshed and also combats breakouts caused by sweat, sunblock, dirt. Then apply a basic moisturizer according to your skintype.
3. Don’t forget to exfoliate.
Yes, exfoliation is a must! Do it at least twice a week. This will help to remove dead skin cells, keeping the skin smooth and shiny. A good exfoliator will shrink your pores.
4. Always wear SPF at day time.
This is the most essential part in your skincare regime if you want to keep aging at bay. I’m not saying this. Ask any dermatologist, you will know. Actually, UV rays, especially UVA directly linked to premature aging. Each day from 8 am to 4 pm, irrespective of season you have to wear a sunscreen with SPF 30 and PA+++. Don’t skip on cloudy days. If you stay under sun for long hours, go for SPF 40-50. Your sunscreen must be water resistant. You can select then here.
5. Take special care of the skin around eyes.
Since 20, crows feet is a common issue. This is the right time to look at around your eyes. You may spend much time on your laptop or mobile, reading books. These cause puffiness, dark circles around the eye area. Hence, pick up a good hydrating eye cream. Get them here.
6. Start using an antioxidant serum.
This helps protect skin’s surface from harmful effects of free radicals like, premature aging and dull, lifeless skin. You can find them here.
7. Spray some mist whenever you feel like.
Spray mists are great hydrating agents. They can give you 24×7 hydration. Carry one in your backpack wherever you go. Do you know a face mist can be a great makeup fixer? Not only that a face mist calm and tone your face, helping you get rid of excess oils.
Pay special attention to these:
- Don’t forget your nails keep healthy. When you rub your hand creams on your hands, rub them to your nails too.
- Air dry your hair after a shower. Twist your hair and blot with a towel then leave it for air drying.
- To heal your hand dryness and consequent aging don’t forget hand creams. Aging first appears on your hands and forearms.
- Give special care to your lips. Use lip balm with SPF at daytime and before bed go for a hydrating one.
- Hydrate your underarm. You have to wear sleeveless dress or spaghetti straps. Don’t you?
Some Lifestyle tips:
- Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water.
- Take adequate rest. At least 6 hours sleep is essential.
- Stay active and be fit. Hence, exercise is a must.
- Always eat fresh veggies and fruit. Processed foods and street side foods are a big No.
- Sleep on your back. And if possible use silk pillow covers.
