Petal Fresh Pure Skin and Hair Care- vegan, cruelty-free brand. My thoughts about it!
Product details: Petal Fresh Pure Shampoo and Conditioner
How I first found out about the Petal Fresh brand?
I am actually not yet proud to call myself a vegan since I am one of those cheese lovers who cannot live without it. However, I am trying to stay on the healthy side and support the use of natural and cruelty-free products. A few months ago, I realized that I was buying all those fresh and natural grocery products, which is great, but at the same time I kept buying all the same mainstream hair care products that are usually full of chemicals and all kinds of artificial ingredients. That is why I became even more interested in the natural beauty products and started exploring different ways of making my very own products that can fit my skin and hair type best. But this is only one of the reasons why I went on a search for natural hair care products. Let’s say, I got tired of using all kinds of hair care products that seem to be working in my hair’s best interest but actually tend to damage it in the long-run. I learned to pay more attention to the labels of the products that I am buying, especially beauty products. Once you see all the mysterious ingredients that your shampoo or conditioner contains, you start wondering why have I been damaging my hair for such a long time?
The rise of the veganism movement and the changes in the beauty industry
With the rise of veganism in the past few years, a lot of people started using vegan, cruelty-free beauty care products as a part of their basic beauty routine. The market has grown dramatically over the past year- almost 38%. However, this is a percentage that reflects only women’s face skincare. The total industry change is expected to show even more staggering results. It seems that people have grown greater eco-conscience and started paying more attention on the ingredients that compound their favorite products.
Petal Fresh Products - 100% Pure Natural ingredients
Throughout my search for natural hair care products, I discovered the Petal Fresh brand in one of the basic drug stores in Amsterdam- Kruidvat. You can also find their products in Holand & Barret for approximately the same price- around 6 euros per product. The first thing that lured me on checking out their products was the label- 100% Pure natural ingredients. I really liked that they actually added a list of everything they stand for on the labels of all their products (No sulfates, No harsh preservatives, pH Balanced, Vegan, Cruelty-free, No parabens, Color-safe, No GMOs, Phthalates, Gluten-free, No color added, Sustainably sourced). For those of you who don’t know what parabens and phthalates are, these artificial addition compounds are heavy preservatives and plasticizers respectively. Your body and hair definitely do not need them. That’s when I decided it was worth trying out, so I bought the Anti- Frizz Lavender Shampoo and the Volumizing Rosemary & Mint Conditioner. For both Shampoos and Conditioners you have various options to choose from, depending on the different types of hair and the different results you are looking for.
My experience
My hair is essentially normal type but throughout the years my scalp became a bit dry, which I only assume is a result of the chemicals and additives in the hair care products I was using. My ends are now more alive and healthy. Taking good care of my hair has always been extremely important to me, since I have long and thick hair. It is usually straight- wavy but not curly. My hair has always been naturally healthy, even though I have been dyeing it red-ish for more than 7 years now, and I’d like to keep it that way.
How I use my Petal Fresh shampoo and conditioner?
Because of my hair type, I actually wash it every 3 days on average. So my hair care routine consists of a shampoo, a conditioner, and a natural homemade hair mask that fits my hair needs. Once in a month I also make a natural homemade hair elixir therapy, a mixture of different essential oils that nourish and rejuvenate my hair. Since the first time that I used the Petal Fresh shampoo and conditioner, I really liked them. They smell amazing and have a really light texture. My scalp and hair ends look and feel healthier. I get to keep my natural hair glow and flexibility without any artificial, plastic additives. There are numerous Petal Fresh product reviews online, and as not all of them are positive, still more than 60% of the users are really happy and are recommending these products. Keep in mind that even though my hair and scalp fell in love with the Petal Fresh shampoo and conditioner, it does not necessarily mean that they will work for you. Thus, make sure that you are aware of your hair and scalp type so that you know what kind of product will work well for them. For instance:
- If you have a really dry and itchy scalp and hair ends, you should try the Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo and maybe either the Lavender nourishing Conditioner or the Aloe & Citrus Moisturizing Conditioner;
- If you dye your hair and you want to keep your color fresh for longer, then you can try the Pomegranate & Acai Color protection Shampoo and Conditioner;
- If your hair is really flat and you want to add some volume to it, you can try the Rosemary & Mint Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner;
- If your hair has lost its natural glow and softness, you can try the Lavender Nourishing Shampoo and Rose & Honeysuckle Clarifying Conditioner.
