The Best ACNE Treatment Product For Less Than 10$
Product details: The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Tonic Solution
Hi Darlings, in today's post I'm going to share with you the Best ACNE Treatment Product.
How many times did you hear that? I know it sounds as fake as a 7$ bill but this is what ACTUALLY has helped me to get rid of my acne. And this product it's less than 10$.
Sounds like something you could use? So let me explain to you everything and feel free to ask any question you might have I'll try to help as much as possible.
Disclaimer: there are some acne pictures here that someone can find gross. Also, I'm not a doctor, I don't know much about acne but I know what I have. If you have any major skin concern maybe check with a professional before doing anything yourself.
Do you need acne treatment?
It would be rather pointless to explain what acne is, if you are here, you have it and you know what it is. Moreover, I'm not a doctor so I am in no position to explain a medical condition to anyone but let me clarify something:
- If you get a couple of blemishes here and there and perfect skin all over, you don't have acne.
- If your skin gets oily through the day you don't have oily skin. We can go more into details on that if you want in another post, now I'd go too off-topic.
These are some examples of acne, similar to mine:
Rosacea / Acne
There are different types of acne and again, I don't want to go into detail because I'm not a doctor. But if you have something like these photos, I can help you.
My Acne Story
My skin started as a combination of the two photos. I had acne since I got my first period when I was 12. It used to be very intense but it got better growing up.
I don't have pictures of that period because cameras sucked and I didn't want to be on photos, especially without makeup but here's one from Summer 2012. As you can see, I had a lot of blemishes on my cheeks and chin and redness all over.
What is left now is enlarged pores on my cheeks and the skin there is quite red which I can't do anything about.
But now I also get tiny pimples (technical name is pustule) around my mouth and chin.
They are tiny, last a day and are quite painful when they are really close between each other. They create some sort of a constellation on my face with 8 or 9 of them.
The product I've found helps me with these.
My Acne Treatments
Telling you I've tried a lot is an understatement. As I said I had acne since I was 12, I've seen plenty of doctors but I've only found three things that work.
Of course and I hope it goes without saying, you have to have good skincare. If you don't, there is no miracle cure that's going to work. It doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Just:
- Wash your face twice a day
- Moisturize twice a day
- Take off your makeup at night
Really, that's it, anyone can do it. Obviously, if you like it, you can go into more details. Here you can see my Morning Skincare Routine and here my Evening Skincare Routine. It's from last year but it's almost identical now. Key products are the same.
Anyway, these are my acne treatment products:
1. Antibiotics
If you have acne, which is a disease, you need medicine to treat it, sad but true. Again, please check with a doctor before taking any medicine though.
I'm going to tell you the ones I took but I have no idea if they are actually available everywhere or they are just Italian.
I took Minocin, which is a pill you take for two weeks every few months. I started taking it when I was 17 because my uncle (who had acne his all life) recommended it to me.
It was the first thing that worked for me. I still take it probably two-three times a year now just to keep acne under control.
Second is Acnatac, which is a gel cream you use every other night on the area and it's really helpful to kill bacteria on the area. It's very drying though and your skin will get quite flakey but it works.
I use only when my skin is really flared up and not for long.
2. Tea Tree Oil
Honestly, Tea Tree Oil really works for everyone who has a pimple.
This goes back to one of my oldest post, my 3 Beauty Secrets From The Backstage. I go in more details there but basically, you can use Tea Tree Oil with a Q-Tip on the pimple and then put an acne dot on top.
Clears it overnight.
3. The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Tonic Solution
This is the best acne treatment product for less than 10$. I've said in the past that I was using The Ordinary to treat acne, which is true but I've never realised how much this product helped me since recently.
I've mentioned the Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution in a lot of posts, even my The Ordinary Must Haves because it makes my skin super glowy, my pores tighter and overall the skin looks plumper but I didn't realise it helped me even with those pimples too.
A few months ago I got a bit lazy and I stopped using it. The pimples came back after a while without them, I didn't realise it was the toner, so I went back using Acnatac, which wasn't working as well as it used to and my skin got very flakey in the process.
One night I did a scrub to get rid of those and then I used the toner, I thought it would help the exfoliation process. I didn't plan to use it back because I thought it was too aggressive on pimples but it turned out that the pimples didn't come back. I kept using it and now my skin is clear.
If you don't know the product, it's basically just a toner you have to use at night (only at night) on clean skin and it's slightly exfoliating.
So yeah, it's safe to say, I'll keep using it since it's also great for acne scars.
Here you can see a picture of my face makeup-free (I only have eyebrows on) and unfiltered. You can see the scaring and the redness but I'm pretty happy with my skin when it's like this.
There is no active inflammation and I'm comfortable going out like this.
