I got engaged in Sarasota, Florida!

I had been craving a beach getaway for sometime and what better place than the Gulf Coast? My boyfriend surprised me for my birthday with a beach getaway to Lido Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida for a little R & R, but little did I know this would be much more than your typical beach vacation.

Lido Key Beach, Sarasota

Sarasota is located on the Florida West Coast, just about a 2 hours drive from Orlando. We had taken our very first Florida road trip to Sarasota when we first started dating, so it would be a fun trip to relive old moments. I used to also go on beach getaways with my family to Lido Beach, Sarasota to spend summer days lounging on the beach. We’d wake up and drink coffee, make eggs and hang out on the balcony. After some sun, we’d head to the local shops to see what we could find to take back as souvenirs. I have some great memories with my family in Sarasota! So I was excited to make even more memories there with my boyfriend. 

Our check in day had arrived and I left work early to head out on the road. Three and a half hours later, we had checked into Lido Beach Resort to enjoy our vacation. First things first, food! We ordered room service and had our wine from back home to end the evening. 

I’m Engaged!

The next day, we woke up early for breakfast at the resort. We had a daily breakfast credit, so we were able to enjoy breakfast on the premises and then spent the day lounging out in the sun. That evening, my boyfriend wanted to have a sunset picnic on the beach before hitting the town for dinner. He had brought our picnic basket, cheeses, wine, and my favorite chocolate (M&M’s) to lounge by the sand and munch on. The beach was fairly empty and calming. We laid out enjoying the breeze when my boyfriend pulled out a sweet poem to read. The last words he read were “Will you marry me?” as he scrambled to get on one knee and hand me the ring. I was in shock! Best surprise ever!!! I didn’t believe it at first but there it was, a ring on my finger! What a perfect way to end the day. 

The next morning I was a fiancé! We awoke to another sunny day where we lounged by the sea and then headed to the shops for some good finds. That night, we had our final dinner at the resort’s restaurant, where the ambiance was just right. Couldn’t have asked for a better getaway and incredible surprise!
