Veggie Burger Recipe - The Easiest Way to Do It
What is a Veggie Burger?
A Burger that does not contain meat or any such kind of meat is a veggie burger. I call them “low in fat, high in health”. People also call them as vegetarian burgers. Veggie burgers are plant-based and the best part is they are delicious. They are full of protein and fiber. Mostly it is quick, easy to do and customize. You can add whatever vegetables you have at home.
Prepare your homemade veggie burger, put it between whole grain bread, some lettuce and tomato on it and here you are! It is around 270 calories for this delicious recipe.
Types of Veggie Burgers
There are many types of veggie burgers. To be honest, there are no rules to do your veggie burger, but you can simply change the taste with the main ingredients.
For example, there are mushroom-based ones. Mushrooms are similar in taste to the meat. If you are not good with eating legumes, I can suggest you use mushrooms.
Another type is legumes-based ones. Mostly with beans and chickpeas. Legumes are rich for protein and fiber.
Tofu-based veggie burgers are perfect for tofu fans. Mashing tofu with some herbs, vegetables, and wheat germ and here it is.
As you can understand from the previous examples, there is no single way to cook your meat-free burger. Choose a main ingredient like mushrooms, chickpeas or tofu, which you want to taste more and mix it with other vegetables like carrot and onion. Some herbs, garlic powder, and an egg would be helpful for a better taste and texture.
Today, I will give you a recipe with easy-to-find ingredients. I think most of these ingredients are already available at your kitchen regardless if you are vegetarian, vegan or meat-eater.
Veggie Burger Ingredients
-1 cup of boiled chickpeas
-1 cup of oatmeal
-1 grated carrot
-1 small size onion
-1 egg
-1 tablespoon of olive oil
-1/2 teaspoon salt
-1/2 teaspoon pepper
-1/2 teaspoon turmeric
-2 teaspoons garlic powder
Recipe
- Put every ingredient to your blender.
- Mix the ingredients for 3-4 minutes. (Till they become together and mashed)
- Give a burger shape.
- Grill the burger on a hot pan.
- Put your burger in whole grain bread. Add lettuce, tomatoes, and mustard on it. (I would also suggest Avocado sauce)
- Enjoy your meal.
With this recipe, you can have 5 burgers. You can keep the extra ones in the freezer.
