Bloggers' Guide To Happiness: How To Stay Happy While Blogging
Blogging is a hobby for many people, it’s even a business for a number of people. There are countless success stories of people earning thousands a day from blogging alone, so it’s no wonder so many people are turning to blogging as a career. If your goal is to one day be one of these high earning bloggers, well then good for you, work towards it and one day you’ll get there. But please don’t beat yourself up that you’re not an overnight success. I’ve seen countless bloggers doubting themselves and questioning if blogging is for them, and I think it is a real shame that something that is an outlet for many people comes with so much pressure. That’s why I’ve put together this advice guide containing tips and tricks on how to remain happy while running a blog.
Remember why you started your blog…
Why did you go down the route of blogging in the first place? Was it to express your love of writing? Or to create content you would want to read yourself? For me, it was to have an outlet to express what is on my mind! Whatever your reasons may be, try to remember them and keep them at the forefront of your mind. It’s so easy to get lost in all these ‘processes,’ but it’s vital to remember why you love what you do.
Don’t compare yourself to others…
When someone posts that they’ve got a million page views that day, of course, celebrate alongside them, but please don’t compare yourself to them. All that does is lead to self-doubt. For some, just one page view a day is an achievement, and that is just as much of a celebration than those in their thousands. Sure, set goals, but also reflect on what you have achieved so far, and most importantly be proud of how far you’ve come on your journey.
Things take time…
Those successful bloggers that you look up to or aspire to be, they’ve worked extremely hard to get to where they are over a considerable amount of time. No one woke up one day and started a high earning blog in the space of an hour. To make a highly successful blog takes a lot of time and dedication. It’s totally possible, I’m just saying that it can take years, so don’t beat yourself that you’re not yet seeing the results you want. You can’t rush your dreams!
No one’s life is perfect…
Blogging highlights the good in life which is great, especially as people consume blogs as a form of escapism. But at the end of the day, they’re still human; they still have high’s and lows. Let’s be honest; no one wants to show the low points in their life unnecessarily, but we all still go through them. It’s not that they’re being dishonest, they just have their warrior face on when facing the world.
Don’t focus too much on the guides…
There are some fantastic ‘how to’ guides, webinars and posts out there outlining the essentials on how to make a successful blog. All of these are helpful to people beginning their blogging journey, but it’s also good to remember but these are all experiences, and everyone’s experience is different. Don’t stress if you’re not following the greatest SEO practice, or don’t shoot the most amazing images; if you’re enjoying creating content then don’t feel pressured to follow someone’s guidelines if you feel it’s not right for you.
Blogging should be enjoyed more than anything, so I hope this advice helps you to remain happy while blogging. What do you do to ensure that you’re enjoying blogging? Have you experienced any struggles or lows as a blogger? Let me know in the comments.
