The Empowerment Quotes for Strong Women

As women, we are faced with many different challenges on a daily basis, yet we always manage to solve and outgrow them. Unfortunately, it sometimes seems that as women, we are not fully aware of our potential, strength, and power. Why is that the case?

We often say that the reason behind this is men who have all the power, but as Roseanne Barr said, ‘The thing women have yet to learn is nobody gives you power. You just take it’.

After all, half of the world population consists of women and once we truly become aware of our powers can we create the change we need.

One of the biggest setbacks, however, is that women often focus on putting each other down and are jealous of each other. When a woman is truly happy with herself, she will always empower, rather than put down, other females.

As we are at the beginning of a New Year, and it is the ideal time to start implementing new behaviors, I challenge you to become more supportive of the females around you. Empower and stand up for each other.

I am sharing some of my favorite Strong Woman Empowerment quotes: read them, memorize them, re-share them with your sisters, mothers, and friends, and, most importantly, embrace them in your daily life.

'A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.' - Diane Mariechild

"Feminism isn't about making women strong. Women are already strong. It's about changing the way the world perceives that strength." —G.D. Anderson

"You don't have to be pretty. You don't owe prettiness to anyone. Not to your boyfriend/spouse/partner, not to your co-workers, especially not to random men on the street. You don't owe it to your mother, you don't owe it to your children, you don't owe it to civilization in general. Prettiness is not a rent you pay for occupying a space marked 'female.'" —Erin McKean

''Teach your daughters to worry less about fitting into glass slippers and more about shattering glass ceilings.''- Melissa Marchonna

"We need to reshape our own perception of how we view ourselves. We have to step up as women and take the lead."—Beyoncé

“There’s something so special about a woman who dominates in a man’s world. It takes a certain grace, strength, intelligence, fearlessness, and the nerve to never take no for an answer.” – Rihanna

‘ I will not be another flower, picked for my beauty and left to die. I will be wild, difficult to find, and impossible to forget.’ – Erin van Vuren

“Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim.” – Nora Ephron

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style” – Maya Angelou

"Of course I am not worried about intimidating men. The type of man who will be intimidated by me is exactly the type of man I have no interest in."―Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

“It wouldn't change so fast. You will need to strive, co-create and empower.
For progress is a never-ending process” - Afreen Fatima

''Your beauty deserves to be seen and known, most especially by you. You are worthy of being the subject of your own art. It is okay to capture the process of your own becoming. To be your own kind and gentle and fierce witness. To learn the truth of your eyes and your skin and your bones. To choose to show what wants to be shown, to name what wishes to be named, to claim ownership of the story that is told about you by being the one to tell it … Look at yourself now, miracle that you are, look at yourself and soak in the wonder until you no longer want to look away.''  - Jeanette LeBlanc

“Your beauty as a woman continues to shine regardless of what mud may spatter you during the storms of your life. Women who have been assaulted or assailed, remember that your purity of Essence is never touched or marred by any human hands or human anger.” - Elizabeth Eiler

''The thing women have yet to learn is nobody gives you power. You just take it.''  - Roseanne Barr

Finally, I am sharing with you my favorite poem by Maya Angelou - from a phenomenal, to a phenomenal woman.

    Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies

I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size

But when I start to tell them,

    They think I’m telling lies.

    I say,

It’s in the reach of my arms,

    The span of my hips,

    The stride of my step,

    The curl of my lips.

    I’m a woman

    Phenomenally.

    Phenomenal woman,

    That’s me.

    I walk into a room

Just as cool as you please,

    And to a man,

    The fellows stand or

    Fall down on their knees.

    Then they swarm around me,

    A hive of honey bees.

    I say,

It’s the fire in my eyes,

And the flash of my teeth,

    The swing in my waist,

And the joy in my feet.

    I’m a woman

    Phenomenally.

    Phenomenal woman,

    That’s me.

    Men themselves have wondered

    What they see in me.

    They try so much

    But they can’t touch

    My inner mystery.

When I try to show them,

They say they still can’t see.

    I say,

It’s in the arch of my back,

    The sun of my smile,

    The ride of my breasts,

    The grace of my style.

    I’m a woman

    Phenomenally.

    Phenomenal woman,

    That’s me.

    Now you understand

Just why my head’s not bowed.

I don’t shout or jump about

Or have to talk real loud.

    When you see me passing,

It ought to make you proud.

    I say,

It’s in the click of my heels,

    The bend of my hair,

    the palm of my hand,

    The need for my care.

    ’Cause I’m a woman

    Phenomenally.

    Phenomenal woman,

    That’s me.

                                                                                                                     - Maya Angelou
