The Body Shop- Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion Review

Product details: Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion

The Body Shop- Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion Review

The Body Shop Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion is a gentle, lightweight, non-greasy daily moisturizer for oily and blemished skin. It is a perfect mattifying lotion for oily skin. It says on the package that the moisturizer contains the tea tree oil from the foothills of Mount Kenya ( I don't know if I care...but okay!).

I have always had oily/combination skin all my life. I also have scarring and acne. I am always scared to use a moisturizer because of the oiliness of my skin. Also I am Indian and I have spent 23 years of my life in hot and humid Mumbai. With all that pollution, humidity and oil on my skin, the fear of building up acne on my face always stayed within. I never used moisturizer in India just gel based sunscreen (Big Mistake.. I know!). But when I came to New York, my skin became very dry during winters (there is no winter in Mumbai) and this was the first moisturizer I dared to try. My skin is very prone to acne and therefore I never used moisturizer, however I have used the Body Shop Tea Tree oil Face Wash before which suited my skin and therefore I chose this particular moisturizer.

It also works great with Aveeno Clear Complexion skin moisturizer and also if you have acne problem do refer to this article about Kate Somerville Blemish Banisher Kit review and Do’s and Don’ts for Acne for a healthy blemish free skin.

    Product

The Body Shop Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion is a great moisturizer as it is very lightweight and also water based. It does not have a creamy texture which makes the skin look oily or shiny. It absorbs pretty quickly and is hydrating for the skin. My only concern is that due to tea tree oil, it does provide a light burning sensation as it is on the skin and if I have an acne which is raw or recently burst, or if my skin has chapped due to dryness, I would definitely not recommend this moisturizer because it will burn like hell. However, during winters, my acne is pretty calm and it is only the scarring that remains. I mean this moisturizer is for blemish prone skin, but I have used the tea tree facewash, toner and moisturizer and to be honest I don't see much difference. The only good thing about this moisturizer for me is, it provides hydration for my skin without causing any acne which is what I was looking for and therefore for me it does the work.

The consistency of the moisturizer is gel/water based.

The Moisturizer is light-weight, absorbs quickly and non-greasy.

    Price- $15

The Body Shop has a great deal of variety. I personally love their shower gel, body butter and yogurt moisturizers. The tea tree mattifying lotion is for $15 which is pretty affordable when it comes to this brand but I personally feel that the quantity is less for the price. But also, it does not require too much product in one go, however you may want to use 2-3 times a day especially during winters. It is also a great base for makeup. The packaging and size also works well for travel purposes.

    Final Review

The Body shop Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion absorbs excess oil while keeping skin feeling hydrated, mattified and happy as can be. It works to provide much-needed hydration without adding shine to already greasy t-zones. Oily skin needs moisture too and that’s where a mattifying cream can help. The vegan formula is infused with tea tree oil from Kenya and its ability to help combat dryness, remove shine and reveal more mattified, healthier-looking skin.
