REVIEWS
Inspired by this review, I decided to try the Scrubee Body Butter and check whether the overwhelming reactions of Lushies around the world are justified, and I loved it! How to use the Scrubee Body Butter? What ingredients did Lush use? How efficient is its exfoliation? Keep reading my beauty review to find out!
Referred to as the newest buffer on the block, Scrubee is a blend of hydrating honey and cocoa butter which moisturizes your skin, contrasted by its exfoliation notes, ground coconut shells and ground almonds. Lush first introduced Scrubee as part of the Mother’s Day collection. After some time, they stopped its production to make the way for their new collection. However, due to its huge popularity and amazing fan feedback, they decided to bring it back. Yay to that!
Let’s be cruelty-free! According to Lush, the brand does not test on animals, does not use materials that contain animal derivatives that are unsuitable for vegetarians and they only buy raw materials from companies that are not involved in the use of, or commission the use of, animals for testing and have no plans to do so in the future.’ You can read more here.
I try to buy beauty products of natural ingredients and which do not have a negative effect on the environment. I have used products from Lush for over 10 years now: I just love browsing through their shop and treating myself with their famous bath bombs, jellies, scrubs, and much more!
Their stores always smell beautiful, and there is a special warm atmosphere in the store reflected both in its design and the service offered. The employees give every customer personal attention and care, and I often feel as if I just went there for a nice beauty treatment.
I do know that if a beauty product is good, it should not necessarily matter how it looks like, but let’s be honest, it is pretty much a good bonus point! Scrubee Body Butter looks like a small bumblebee, and with its delicious honey-vanilla scent, it is impossible not to love it! Let’s find out more about its nurturing ingredients!
Scrubee Body Butter is made from 14 ingredients, but here are the 4 basic ones:
Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter: With its softening and conditioning properties, the cocoa butter highly hydrates your skin, and it is a popular ingredient across a range of products. Cocoa butter is usually dry and stable, but it is often combined with other kinds of butter to create rich blends. The cocoa butter is a natural emulsifier, meaning it makes oil and water stick tightly, leaving little space for microbes to move around and grow. It further prevents skin dryness and peeling, and it is a great source of natural antioxidant. To find out more about the benefits of cocoa butter, check this article.
Fair Trade Shea Butter: With its high concentration of fatty acids and vitamins A, E and F, Shea butter provide necessary nutrients and hydration for your skin and it is an ideal cosmetic ingredient for softening skin. Shea Butter also has anti-inflammatory, anti-aging and healing properties. It offers UV protection (SPF -6), and it also has a long history of use in medicine for wound treatments. Read more about its benefits here.
Ground almonds: Ground almonds help to gently cleanse the skin and help remove dead cells from the skin’s surface. When mixed with water, ground almonds produce soothing milk plenty of vitamin E that help in the skin’s revitalization. To find other benefits of this delicious ingredient, check this article.
Extra Virgin Coconut Oil: Coconut oil helps soften and protect the skin and hair, and thanks to its fragrance, it adds a gentle tropical touch. It further helps improve your skin’s elasticity and collagen production, while keeping it deeply hydrated. Containing Vitamin E and A, it has anti-oxidant properties which help slow down the aging process and can help heal sunburns. Read more about the benefits of this popular ingredient here. When looking at the ingredients’ properties, it is no wonder the blend results in such an effective, healthy, and delicious product as the bumblebee Scrubee!
I use Scrubee about 2 times a week while taking a shower, so the bar lasts between 1-2 months. I first put it for seconds under mild water to help soften bumpy bits. After that, I massage in the rich butter for a few minutes, rinse, and pat dry. Since it has such a thick structure, I don’t need to use any moisturizer afterward, even though my skin is quite dry.
Pro tip: I would suggest using Scrubee sideways, so it wears down more evenly.
Downsides:
Although I did not experience this myself, I have read some reviews where Lushies complain about how short Scrubee lasts. Apparently, Scrubee melts away quickly and I believe this might happen if you put it under very warm water. Therefore, be cautious not to melt it away!
Scrubee’s biggest enemy, Buffy, is the classic body scrub by Lush, which helps slay dryness with ease. You can buy Buffy for $12.95 here. Compared to Scrubee, Buffy melts easier and is less greasy than Scrubee. It feels more as if you have applied a light lotion after a shower, and it also has a more minimalistic scent. Personally, I find Buffy to smells strongly of cocoa butter, and I prefer the sweet Scrubee fragrance a bit more.
Price: For only $7.95, Scrubee is such an affordable, effective, and super cute product everyone should make space for on their bath shelf. You can get your Bee-autiful Scrubee here!
And this was it, ladies! I hope my Scrubee Body Butter Lush Review was useful, and if you have not done it yet, I would totally recommend getting your Scrubee bumblebee quickly! In the meantime, enjoy Lush’s wide variety of products, and who knows, maybe you find your next favorite beauty product! ;)
Good luck!
Una
