Why is the CeraVe Acne Foaming Cleanser Better Than the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash?
Product details: CeraVe Acne Foaming Cleanser, Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash
The CeraVe Acne Foaming Cleanser has been my go-to product for the past year and my skin has improved tremendously. As someone who has struggled with acne for a few years, I have tried an array of products, and no other skincare product-including topical creams recommended to me by dermatologists-has given me satisfying results like the CeraVe cleanser has. I found that other products would not help at all and would often even irritate my skin further while leaving dark spots where the acne would be. Right before using the CeraVe wash, I used to use the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash daily for a month. Read my review to get some insight into how much CeraVe truly helped me with my challenge of overcoming acne and how the CeraVe cleanser compares to the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash!
Type of Skin
I have oily skin and my acne usually occurs within my t-zone area. In the winter, at times, my skin seems to get a little dry. CeraVe helped me with all these skin issues.
The CeraVe Formula
I have always been told that an important ingredient to alleviating acne is Benzoyl Peroxide- the main active ingredient in the CeraVe cleanser! The cleanser contains 4% Benzoyl Peroxide with various other important and helpful ingredients such as Hyaluronic acid and Niacinamide- which are said to prevent inflammation, dark spots and maintain natural moisture! The entire formula of the cleanser is extremely gentle and very effective.
How to Apply the CeraVe Cleanser
I use the cleanser twice daily- once in the morning and once at night. All one needs to do is take a dime size amount of the cleanser, lather it across the face and leave it to sit for about 30 seconds before thoroughly washing it off with water. Very quick and easy with minimal steps and no mess!
The Results of the CeraVe Cleanser
My skin is always left glowing and feeling very clean and soft after use. Results are fast- I started seeing results within a week of usage and my skin has been pretty clear ever since! The cleanser even helped me get rid of dark spots and previous acne scars.
Neutrogena Comparison
The Neutrogena wash has a different main active ingredient known as salicyl acid- which helps with clearing pores. However, I found the formula to be harsh on my skin. In fact, after just the second time of using the wash, my skin was extremely irritated, flakey and it started to burn. My pimples had become inflamed and only seemed to get worse over time. My skin was also stiff and had a rough texture. I used the product twice daily and quit usage after a month.
Conclusion
I would highly recommend the CeraVe acne wash compared to the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne wash because of its gentleness and many benefits. I think CeraVe's formula is far more superior with a better combination of ingredients for the skin. I would not recommend the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne wash under any circumstances.
Price and Where to Buy the CeraVe Cleanser
The CeraVe Acne Foaming Cleanser isn't too expensive (priced usually around $15) and can be found at local pharmacies and be ordered online- such as at CVS and/or Walgreens!
