101 Citizens Contributed to a Pandemic Book Project About Instant Noodles

When you look at instant noodles, what do you think of? A quick snack, maybe a great meal but have you ever thought of the pool memories you've acquired while consuming this delicacy?
Instant Comfort: A Collective Memory
Instant Comfort: A Collective Memory, is a book that comprises over 100 stories of Singaporeans that love instant noodles. These stories are contributed by people from all walks of life, including Singapore's Health Minister Ong Ye Kung, Singer Kit Chan and myself.
That's right! My experience is part of the 101 stories that were published in the book.
In that experience, I recounted a memory where I was painfully rejected by a crush. Nothing could cheer me up except for my favourite instant noodles.
The moment the warm broth filled my tummy, it felt like love. To be in love with the devil is a special bond indeed. They prompt you to do devious things like eating late-night snacks to get over your crush. Sometimes standing on the dark side is not so bad after all.
Pandemic Book Project to Raise Funds for 2 Charities
However, this is no ordinary book. This is a pandemic book project that was inspired by panic buying in the earlier days of the pandemic in 2020.
Additionally, this book project also raised funds for 2 charities:
- The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT BAF)
- The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (STSPMF)
As of August 2021, over SGD$600K was raised. These funds will go into helping kids with meals and needs.
