Bye Bye Dry Skin: Top 5 Moisturizers You Need Right Now! | Tried and Tested

Do you have dry skin? Do you have acne and sick of all the acne solution that ends up drying your skin more? Are you FOREVER looking for that perfect moisturizer that will finally end your constant battle with your skin? You are at the right place!

I have always had dry skin, on top of that I never took care of my skin in my teen years, it got so much worse. And when I did start paying attention to my skin, it was a nightmare! Certain moisturizers would make my skin oily in the t-zone and drier than Sahara desert on the cheeks. Some moisturizers straight up would not work, I apply loads of it and my skin would still flake off, and still somehow manage to clog my pores? I tried everything, Face masks, oils, facials, seven step skin routines. After trying everything I have realized that nothing is better than a good reliable moisturizer. If you have that and use that religiously, you my friend are sorted for life.

Since I already have had my battle let me save you yours. Here is a list of top 5 moisturizers that I have used and I know works.

    1) Cetaphil Rich Hydrating Cream

Cetaphil was the first moisturizer that ever worked for me. Before this all the moisturizers I used weren’t doing anything for me. My skin was intensely dry and I was breaking out severely. I went to a dermatologist and she recommended Cetaphil.

I also had very low Iron and hemoglobin levels which I hadn’t even thought of before, so if your skin is breaking out and nothing seems to work get your blood checked it might be something internal and if that’s the case any external treatment will not work.

Pro tip: Women generally tend to have low Iron so remember to fill your diet with iron-rich foods like, spinach, legumes, red meat, pumpkin seeds or dark chocolate!

    2) CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

CeraVe, I picked up when I was out for a usual pharmacy run. I was looking for Cetaphil actually, but they were out of it, so I thought let’s give this a try. I was not disappointed. It is great for the price and lasts for a long time.

The cream is thick so be sure to massage it in properly. It worked great in winter and stayed on all day in heavy cold, but in summer it sits heavily on your skin, makes me sweat a lot. So maybe skip it for summer.

    3) Neutrogena Oil-free Acne Moisturizer pink grapefruit

This was also a pharmacy run find! I had just moved to USA and my skin was not having it. I used to live in a warm country. The weather change was too much for my skin and I was breaking out. To treat my acne, I decided to get a salicylic acid facewash and ended up the moisturizer too. Honestly, the packaging was so cute I couldn’t resist.

The moisturizer is light-weight, and doesn’t sit on your skin. Works great in-combination with the same face wash. It managed to get me rid of all the acne, while moisturizing my skin efficiently. What more do you need!

    4) The Body Shop - Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturizer

Few months ago, I went back to India and then came back in few weeks. Travelling was hard on my skin, especially travelling for 16-20 hours with a mask on. After I came back to USA, my skin was feeling down and needed a pick-up. That is why I decided to give Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturizer a go.

Vitamin C is great for your skin. I used to have fruits rich in vitamin C but when I started using The Body Shop - Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturizer, the difference was so apparent. It makes my skin feel fresh and glowing. The texture is very light. However, it’s not the most moisturizing on cold days. But I love the glow it gives me.

On colder days, it doesn’t give enough moisture. I use it in combination with Cetaphil or Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream on the cold days and it stays all day making me glow while still fully moisturized.

    5) Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream

For the longest time I have been hearing about Laneige products, and once when I went to Sephora I couldn’t resist the urge to try the products. I’ve been using the lip sleeping mask for years(if you haven’t tried it, you’re seriously missing out) so I had high hopes, and it didn’t disappoint!

The moisturizer is so light and smooth. My main concern with Laneige products is the price, it’s not exactly the most budget friendly. But a small amount of the moisturizer goes a long way. So if you’ve eyeing the moisturizer too, go ahead and buy it! It will last you very long.

I have acne & oily, problematic skin. But ever since I purchased the CeraVe cream (#2) about two years ago, I can't use anything else. It is perfect. Quite neutral, clean, moisturizing. The first time I purchased a 100ml tube, and when it has finished (like a year later) I purchased a massive pot with a pump hehe. Love it! Thank you for this post.
